Purple moorhen (Porphyrio porphyrio)

Although there are also purple moorhen in the rice fields of La Janda, but they are easier and more often to be seen on the mouth of the river Guadiaro near Sotogrande:

There in the about 27 hectare big nature reserve many purple moorhen are living, which you can watch and enjoy from an ornithological station:

The turquoise blue chest plumage is a very nice contrast to the otherwise purple-blue plumage:
