Redshank (Tringa totanus)

Redshanks are here in the salt marsh of Fuente de Piedra and Bonanza at home:

They betray themselves with their melodic calls and

you got to be lucky to see them from so close, because they are very shy:

A nice back also can charm the audience!

Redshanks picking for insects, worms, crustaceans and mollusks:

Unfortunately also the population of these beautiful waders is greatly reduced by intensive agriculture and dewatering!

Redshanks are flying quickly and straight-lined:
