Here in the south of Spain the pied avocets are to be found as well in the lagoon of Fuente de Piedra as also
in the saline of Bonanza:
Because there the conditions are found for their demands for living, which means lightly salt containing, shallow waters.
Pied avocets sway their bent beak for taking food side wards through the water, and
are picking up shrimps or worms.
During winter you see them in big colonies, side by side, in summer they are as couples or rather loners, who
defend their territory
jealously with threatening gestures:
Each bird, never mind the size, is chased away from the own territory, because the only important thing is, that
the own breed is without disturbance:
Well protected from the parents continuously on alert
the chicks are growing up:
From the day of their birth
