But in this age the young black-winged stilts are already fully fledged:
With its fine as a needle sharp beak …
… the black-winged stilt is pointedly picking insects from the water surface:
Different from other waders he is able - thanks to his long legs -
… to leave the pure shallow water areas:

… with the beginning black coloring of the head in early spring:
While the upper side of the males have a greenish shine, that of the females is shining brownish:
