Stork colony

 

One year about the life of the stork colony at San Roque



Bonnie vomits a delicious dinner:

And in the neighbors nest fresh water is offered:


"More please, more!" the little ones are begging:

And in turns each is getting some drops against the biggest thirst:

But not all little storks will survive the first weeks. Too much the youngest chick - in the middle of the photo - is behind its siblings:

But many others grow and prosper magnificently! The leg muscles are already developed and allow the small stork to stand in the nest and not only to fidget around:

Parents proud!

1250 gram of food each grown chick needs now per day!

An enormous achievement of the parent animals to supply so much food, if you consider, that for three chicks nearly 4 kilogram of food have to be brought every day plus the 500 gram which each parent animals needs for itself:

"For the moment I am filled and …

… have to make my business!":
