La Janda

La Janda
January 9 2010

Dear reader!

For yesterday best weather was forecasted and so we went along the gorgeous road from Gibraltar and along ...

... the Atlantic shores once again on our way ...

... to La Janda. And who on this photo looks closely he'll see on the low side left at the turn a round traffic sign. It was on this very traffic sign somebody was waiting for us. In fact somebody we were waiting for since a very very long time!

But because we could not guess such, we first enjoyed the zitting cisticola and ...

...titlarks looking for worms, which we met at the wayside in La Janda:

"Well I won't wait forever here on this traffic sign for you, while you adore and photograph these silly small birdies!" The much longed for black-winged kite looked a little bit grim and inpatient in our direction! We took our breath, because until now we only had seen him during all our visits to La Janda just one time.

And there he was sitting now and accepted, that we draw closer and could admire his red eyes:

But Mr. Black-winged kite was hungry and ...

... so he showed us ...

... how excellent he ...

... manage his skills:

But the prey must have quickly cleared away and ...

... so Mr. Black-winged kite turned away without having achieved anything to be somewhere further away more successful. We just had been enthralled to have seen this beautiful and seldom bird!

The very strong rain falls of the last weeks showed us La Janda from a complete different side. The first bridge, we lucky enough didn´t have to pass, just looked out of the water:

And this bridge actually is only the way over a small channel, but now ...

... the panorama from above looked like this. Over floated areas wherever the eye reached:

Well and this is the bridge we had to pass. Also this one just looks out of the water and before obviously had completely disappeared under water for some days:_
