Much shyer the wonderful purple herons acted:
They live much more hidden than the herons in the reeds:
And if they feel discovered they immediately change place:
A squacco heron "behind bars":

Never before ...
... have we seen so many ...
... little egrets ...
... as in these September days:
Such beautiful and elegant birds:
As usual perky and vitally alive ...
... the cute cattle egrets!
