The big pied avocet and stilt colonies of the saline had offspring. This was to be recognized on the behavior - as always from a far distance and bad airturbulences - easily to detect. Did a raptor show up on the sky, the parental animals of both species acted in common and flew impressive diversionary- and deterrence tactics. Always successful!
And this heron sitting there peacefully was unlucky, because...
... Daddy pied avocet discovered it, and chased it out of the territory of his children!
"Oh no, come on, hopefully this fussy pied avocet parents don´t detect me too!" the little egret is pleadingly hoping.
But the pied avocets also among themselves show a clear territory behavior and ...
... the males are looking continuously for enemies from the air!
Only seldom the parent animals take their time to eat something themselves!
"I beg your pardon? This snowy plover wants to enter our territory??!" immediately all pied avocets agree that this perky guy has to be chased out.
But as the pied avocets recognize, that also the snowy plover couple has to take care of thumb-seized chicks they graciously let them do as they like!
Now please have a look at this tiny little snowy plover beside of his dad! We were enthralled! Never before had we seen such tiny little sweet chicks in the open nature! And how they dashed around!
