As already mentioned in the beginning Dehesa de Abajo accommodates with more than 300 stork nests one of the largest white stork colonies in Spain:

Signs point out, that one should not make one more step not to disturbe this huge nesting colony in the woods, which we of course adhered to:

But from the observation point …

… one can get an idea about these tree-storks:

Nesting material is transported and …

… looking close everywhere tree nests are to be seen:

Also just beside of us one ringed stork flew to its hidden nest in the old olive trees

How many nests may only this tree accommodate!

"Well, if I maybe should build my nest here?"

Besides the many white storks and black kites this area also is the nesting territory of red kites, booted eagles and short-toed eagles:

Two black kites take a rest at the bank of the lagoon, another one …

… guards the area from above:

And the booted eagle makes it clear to all Dehesa inhabitants by overflying, that they have to count on him as a neighbor:
