Parque Natural de Doñana

Travel report Parque Natural de Doñana (Salines at Bonanza und Algaida) and rice-growing region of La Janda (Atlantic coast)
July 4-5 2009

Like father, like son:

"I really don´t know, what the others of the colony are up to, but …

… I just get my goat as well!"

To visit a cattle egret colony is always again lots of fun! These physiognomies … the ruffling of the plumes … this vitality! Just gorgeous!

In La Janda we wanted to get an idea if there is already anything about migration to be noticed

But no, this was too early. The white spots are all cattle egrets:

Only here and there was in the wet rice-fields once in a while a stork to be seen …

... or took wings:

But on the other hands in these wetlands of La Janda …

... is a present population by ….

… thousands of dragonflies:

The turtledove looks dreamy at the panorama, while …

… the ducks enjoy swimming in one of the many irrigation canals.

And this young, still a little bit clumsy Thekla lark was the last bird we saw during this wonderful excursion to the Spanish nature:

As usual I hope very much, that this report can convey a little bit of the magic we experienced!

Best regards
