Spoonbills, little egrets and herons … this saline are a unique animal's paradise!
At the height of Lebrija wide acres of tomatoes dominate the appearance of Marismas. The harvest of tomatoes was just in full swing:
By arriving down at the river this police vehicle was one of the rare cars, which we should see in the following hours. Of course the policeman asked us curiously/concerned what we are doing in this desert. As they heard, that we are watching birds they meant with a rather relenting smile, that we are just on the right place on this lost bumpy road and did not further try to convince us to drive as quick as possible to the highway in direction to Seville!
Through the sparse forest there is always a glimpse to the Guadalquivir and …
… the opposite banks of National Park La Doñana and …
… the local colonies of white storks with their nests in the trees:
Only these bee-boxes tell, that sometimes a human being is coming here, because …
… there in these deserted wide areas there comes no feeling to be in Europe anymore.
I don´t know any other such undeveloped river area like these Marismas of Guadalquivir:
It is sheer joy, that there are still areas like this around, where so many birds also find their second home also in their winter habitat:
But not only on the right side river-bank - also the National Park of Doñana - the white storks are breeding in trees. We saw them change in next to no time the river side and how they are feeling at home in the whole area.
